Is the new JLW6v2 sounds better than W7s?!?! Opinions!

Originally posted by nofriends46 True! Alot of people are unpowering their subs, thats why they save up and get another amp. But if you running a 300watt amp to a JL W7 than thats a joke.
Why is that a joke? If you want some of the best SQ without mind shattering SPL 300W is perfect for a daily driver. It would be perfect for SQ comps. For some reason or another people have it in their mind that because there is a thermal limit rating on a sub, that they have to power it so that you're right on that rating.

*sigh*

I've done several installs with 300W running to a 600W RMS+ driver and I haven't heard a complaint, nor have I heard anyone who's heard it call it a "joke".

funny you just said that....

my friend has a pheonix gold xmax 12 rms is 500 watts..

he's powering it w/an xtant amp w/250watts goin to it....

he's not sastified.....

and its a shame when u know someone w/a jlw0 who's sub sounds better and louder!

so i think its better to get as close to rms if not over it as possible!

its better for a sub to be overpowered than under!!

another case was me and my 5channel amp powering a jlw3......

i had 150 watts goin to it when the rms was 250 watts...

after i was able to get to the rms i understood why companies set rms.... b/c its recommended..... and if u don't follow at least follow that, you won't see how well it can perform... so i think he is right about calling it a J O K E !

Why is that a shame? The JLW0 is a good speaker.

If you think this then you have been sadly misinformed my friend. You should read up on the facts before you go and start spreading myths.

That RMS rating is only a thermal limit of the voice coil in one situation. Port your sub and the RMS value goes down. Bandpass and the RMS value goes down. Increase the size of the sealed box and the RMS goes down. Don't worry about me getting upset, other people's ignorance makes me laugh.
