Is the convenience of MP3s far outweighed by the low sound quality to most on here?

you are obviously new at this... i dont want to explain //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Oh come on, yes I am new to the technical details - but I have been downloading music for over 10 yrs.

i think the compression of mp3 in a car is far outweighed by road noise and other factors

i would go as far as to say 128kbps is plenty for a car unless you install a very nice SQ system

As far as sound quality goes... I don't know what is worse..

somewhat degraded MP3 formats.. or CD's that skip due to scratches or fingerprints.. and to take it even further... head units that can't read a CD until you've put it in several times and blown all the dust off.

Over time.. I would say.. less mechanical.. is better.. and I am sure that better technology will become more and more mainstream and alleviate much of the SQ issues with MP3's and the like.

uh go to options when you rip from a cd and go to quality and raise it to 320..

find someone with mp3s that they ripped themselves in 320 if your stealing music online..

I deleted all the MP3s I had years ago.

Of course, for serious listening, I get out the LPs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
and probably crank up some old fashioned tube amp thingy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i ripped my whole collection years ago thinking 192kbps was the way to go, i am kicking myself now

although it doesnt matter in my car, at home in a quiet room through my paradigms and can surely tell the difference between 192 and 320:(

Agreed and Brand X doesn't exactly have the greatest rep to begin with in the car audio community for a decent product.

I didn’t want to mess with my daughters EV, so I just made a small stand alone with 6x9s. It’s around 75 watts rms and fairly loud actually. Real...
