Is my laptop dying on me??

Just started acting weird... freezing up on me , then the screen would just start flashing off and on, then get all distorted.. Restart , and its fine for 10 minutes or so then it happens again.. , Its about 5 yrs old and has had a few minor hardware/sftware issues in the past.. ANyone ever have this happen

you got a virus more than likely if i were you i'd back up the important things and then get it formated but first you should do a virus scan cause sometimes that will solve the problem

Reload it. If not you could be having an issue with your video controller or a ribbon cable, from my experience.

true but anything is posible and another thing you should try though is hook it up to an external monitor and see what happens

Sounds like a corrupted video driver. Go to your manufacturers website and download the latest video driver. Install, then dance.

thanks guys.. Now everytime i log in, i get a popup saying my computer has incountered a serious error and goes to the blue screen ..

sounds like you are having hardware failure...dont think a virus scan or reloading windows is going to fix it

Boot up in safe mode and see if you get the same error.

give me the stop error code, and the first 2 sets of digits in parenthesis as well.

If it names any files associated with the crash, post it as well.

Could be a virus or could be what happened to a HP I worked on. It was a circuit on the board that went and it would restart at different time sometimes not start up or back up. Or sometimes freeze. Download Malware Bytes and run it it will probably find the virus if there is one. The quick scan is fine.
