Is my car totaled

Insurance companies and such usually consider a car totaled if the price of the damage exceeds the value of the car.
no, if the damages are a certain % of the book value they consider it totaled. They will give you a check (for less than hte car is worth most of the time) and sell the car at a auction.

Sad isn't it? This is the representation of our future //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
OP I believe insurance has a set % of damage your car must have in order for it to be totaled. I believe it is about 80% but not 100% sure on that but it is up there.
I am gonna +1 this, I think its when you are like 70%ish cost to replace.

i thought if the frame gets bent then they have to total the car.....being that it will just collapse if in another wreck....

in H.S.....me and a couple of friends were at complete stop on a hill behind another car...well this jeep cherokee smashed us...not sure how fast he was going but there was no visible damage to hsi cherokee, but she had a damaged bumper and tail lights....the insurance company deemed the car unsafe becuz the frame got bent...the car we were in was a 1980's camero..and was in great condition u

ntil that wreck

I suggest you take it to a body shop and have them give you an estimate for repairs. Then go look up the kelly blue book value for your car, and see what the value is for "fair". Do the math, if it's over 60-65 chances are good it's gone...

Still, the only really bad part sound like the door, sounds like the b-pillar (Or is it the a-pillar? I confuse the two) got jacked. I'd repair it, I mean, what else are you gonna get thats cheaper than the cost to repair it? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

wait, unibody cars have frames now???
my thoughts exactly .... if the damage of the car exceeds the bb value of the car yes it is totaled .... will insurance pay for it being totaled ..? i highly doubt it.. you would need to file a hit and run report at the scene of the accident and your insurance company would have assessed the damage and would have been determined from there ...

in all honesty an insurance company would probably total it. you would be suprised what they will total. when my car was broken into they broke a window and stole my system, and from that it was a totaled car. plus my dad owns a tow lot so i have seen a lot of stuff involving this stuff

How long ago did these accidents happen? Do you have full coverage? Did you file police reports?

Depending on these things, you might not even be able to file an insurance claim.

BS! Unless the completely ruined that car, they will not total a car for a broken window...........................//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

A broken window could put it over the top...

When I wrapped my mustang around a tree, the insurance was going to pay for the 8k worth of damage. I didn't wan't the pos back after all that damage so i paid the porter $200 to bust out the back hatch and quarter glass. The insurance cut me a 13k check.
