ok but ill have you know that my JL is 1000w peak rms handling. so why wont it hit as hard as possible with this amp? not many amps can do 1000w rms at 3 ohms or am i wrong? WILL I SEE an improvement from any upgrades IS MY QUESTION?

How well are the thiele small ratings matched to your box? If you free air your sub it won't punch as hard as in a cardboard box. And a cardboard won't punch as hard as a proper custom box.

Your friend probably built his own, and you prob got one off ebay.
