Is my amp bad?

So I'm helping a friend install a used amp he got so we don't really know if it works. Everything is hooked up but it does not drive the sub (its a 2 channel, being bridged) it simply makes static noise like errrrrrrrrrrr. Could it be the amp or is it probably the wiring?

Check the wiring if that is all connected right I had the problem but its was a beginners mistake i connected my rca wire's into the aux input of my head unit and that made the same noise. Also check that the output is on the sub out if you have one might be off. If after checking them out you still have the noise and nothing is moving the amp might be bad.

Plug an MP3 or CD player into the amp using a headphone to RCA splitter, if it works fine that it is a HU/RCA cable problem. If it doesn't work than the amp is shot.
