Is it possible to have 2 subs hooked up to a mono amp

It's really hard to find a good 2 channel amp ( or whatever you call an amp that will run 2 subs), so I was just woundering if there was a way that you could do that?

yes. its pretty much the only thing people do. very rarely will you see people actually buy 2 channel amps to run subs.

with a mono block amp, you wire up both subs into a specific load and you're left with 1 positive wire and 1 negative wire, which goes to the monoblock.

What type of subs do you have, and what are the voice coils on them? Let us know that and a budget your looking to spend on an amp and we can give you some suggestions.

I'm not really sure about all this stuff, I just got into looking at a new audio system for my car sometime in the near future. If you could also answer the same question that you will be answering for him for me please.

I'm looking at 2 12" Solo-Baric L7's each on 2 ohm DVC. They each run 750 watts rms and peak at 1500 watts, so they total out at 1500 rms and 3000 peak power. An amp suggestions would be great. Also, I'm looking to keep the amp around $400 or less. I can most likely find it on eBay also, if it is too expensive off of the manufacturers website.

for your situation i would go with a kicker 1500.1 but you are mainly gonna need to look for an amp that is decent and does its rms power that matches the rms power of those subs at a 2 ohm load..The kicker would be perfect and should be right in your budget range..

You can get this, 1400watts RMS at 2ohms, so youll pretty much have the exact power those subs can handle

A Kicker zx1500.1 would be perfect for them at 2 ohms.

Yea thanks for the suggestions guys. Is the 1500 watts at 2 ohms peak or rms though? And how would I wire it so both subs could be hooked up to it? bridge it and run them in parallel or something?

RMS. You can't bridge a mono (1 channel) amp. Wire it like this...

BobbyDD would that only be using one voice coil on each? I'm not looking to get them right away, so I'm trying to just build my knowledge on everything so I know exactly what I'm up against once I buy them. Would that still give me the full potential out of them?

It's using both voice coils. It will still give you their full potential.
