Its all over the net, not just here amn. No matter where you go, its there. Thieves can actually hide online so they do. Just get as much info as you can on the seller and ask around.

Who was you planning on buying from??

Although post count doesn't mean much, you have to think...why would someone with 12,000 posts want to ruin their rep over a couple hundred bucks?

I spend countless hours on here during the work day and sometimes at night. There is nothing you can buy that's worth it. But others, I would just be extremely leary...make sure they have good rep and that you follow up.

People listed me as rep and I do not recall even having a transaction with. Make sure their rep is good rep, not some random screen name.

word. if you deal with people who have a good rep, you should be good.
Should...there have been plenty of people with good reps (see Shane Christiansen and Ronny Peay) who have turned out to be scum...

It's tough dealing on here. I think a lot of it has to do with the high amount of traffic we get- just look at how many members are on this site at any given time- there are usually at least 500 people on the forum. With that many people, it's tough not to run into a higher number of scams floating around.

I think if we require 50 posts before you can sell it will cut down on a lot of it, so many boards about there that will let you sell something right away they typically would not bother with it.

That being said I have noticed a bunch of new 07's selling PS3, XBOX 360 and other high end stuff out of the blue, also a peice of paper with name/date does not really mean that much as if I am looking to scam someone I can just take a pic of my own shit without planning to actually send it.

Not that we don't seem to have some older members doing the same thing but I think requiring X amount of posts to sell anything would be a good step.. Or have goob add something like itrader for vb.

yea i would really check into the refs that they put down im still awaiting a package from nitro_freak1 from the forums after hes recieved mine well over a week ago and i still have nothing not even a tracking number so i would really look into who they have as refs

and try and get as much info from them as you can alternate forms of communication things of that nature

This has been suggested before and I think it's a great idea.

I'm also on a hockey goalie forum, where you have to pay $1 to the site to take out a classified ad. Not a bad idea with that, either.
