Depends on how much smaller.maybe some thicker wire for my subs i did go a with a smaller gauge when i swapped to my new car but could it realy make that much of a difference???
Then there may be a possibility that your stock Stereo system has a stock amp and is putting out more power than your LOC's input can handle.by the speakers i tapped the back speakers so i mounted it in my trunk
^^^May try it behind the HU so your are getting a sorce before the amp. What size wire are you using?
