is 900 rms @2 ohms to little for 2 type r's?

the type r's are 500 rms each and they are 2 ohm subs. its a kenwood amp, should i get a bigger amp? and what would be a good amp that doesnt coast a shit load of money?

You should get two different amps to start off with or an amp that can be ran @ 2ohms. Your current setup will only allow you to run it @ 2ohms or @0.5ohms. Only a handful of amps are stable @ .5ohm.

900rms would be fine though.

I think he said his amp can be run at 2 ohms. He's fine with 1 amp that can push 900 watts @ 2 ohms. He just needs to wire each sub in series for a 4-ohm load, and both subs need to be wired to the amp in parallel to pull down the ohms to 2. It'll work just fine.

I would be looking for a bigger amp if I were you. The R's are very power hungry and if you look around, most are feeding a single 12" 700-1,000 RMS each. 900 RMS for 2 should move them decently but I think you'll be wanting to upgrade pretty quickly.

if you make a good ported enclosure, it shouldn't matter.

they are runnin @ 2 ohms now but in a really small ported enclosure. will the right enclosure make a big difference in spl?

open that son of a ***** up to at least 2ft^3 per chamber with 25in^2 per port opening if you do dual openings, otherwise 50in^2 for one port...Your choking those things in that tiny box. And yes, it'll make a huge difference on SPL in the proper enclosure.
