Is 6.25 vs. 6x9 just personal preference?

The alpine type s 6x9s I had in my wife's protege had JUST as much bass as her 10 in the ported box.

(the 10 was VERY under powered tho)

I have those same 6x9s in my doors of my nissan hardbody, and they sound fantastic. But I am looking to buy a new set, for 1 of them is blown. I have 2 sets of 6.5" components I can put in the same place, but IDK about that idea.

Get away from Alpine 6x9's! They blow way to freaking easyily. I have blown 5 pairs of alpine 6x9's in a matter of a few months (on deck power or amped). Then I bought a set of memphis m-class 6x9's and through 150wrms and they are still kicking 2 years later!
