ipod to pioneer HU issue

I have a pioneer Avh-p4300dvd HU in my truck and I hooked up my ipod with the cd-iu50v pioneer cable. It works great but the cable is really short so I want to extened it. The HU came with a usb extension cable but nothing for the aux input. So I used a belkin cable I got at Walmart for that. Well it won't work with the extension cables hooked up. Does it matter that I'm using a cheap aux cable? The cable is fine cause I can plug it into the headphones output on the ipod and plug it to the input on the HU and it works fine. So I'm guessing the belkin cable isn't compatable. Do I need a better quality one? I'm assuming the pioneer usb cable I got with the HU is fine. Thanks.

Oops nevermind I figured it out. I just needed a 4 conductor 3.5mm cable.
