Yea it's true, some people simply don't need that extra mumbo jumbo. It's just nice to have a faster CPU and more ram when it calls for it. Making it more future proof basically.. It might be enough now but in a year or two it's already behind.
I like to mod but doesn't mean I'm gonna go straight to an android. I have many reasons to go with iphone but its mostly because it's become the standard platform for everything. Like practically every head unit now is compatible with iphones more than android phones. Practically anyone that thinks about making an app makes it on the App Store first before any other platform. I like using Apple TV to stream my movies and tv shows directly from my phone. More people have iphones so if I go to a friend's house, I can always ask for their charger. It's just more practical but apple is still behind in a lot of things. They just finally made a bigger screen which every phone has been doing for a while now. I've been wanting a bigger screen cuz the keyboard is just too small even for my tiny fingers. Nice to have for games and watching movies on the phone too.. All in all, almost every smart phone in 2014 is capable of doing everything anyone ever needs to do with ease. Nothing is perfect though, and bugs need to be worked out as always. If all you use is txt, email, web browsing, and talk on the phone, then there is no need to mod or even upgrade.
I'm waiting till the jailbreak comes out sometime in december probably and I'm gonna cop the iphone 6+ most likely. Modding an iphone is a bit different than modding an android. Cydia features different stuff that is unique that I absolutely love. Android has things that iphones cannot do either.. so it's just preference really..
It's true android has a bunch of those stupid widgets but you can remove all those things if u want.. Iphone on the other hand, they don't allow you to remove anything stock from them. I wanted to get rid of compass, passbook, mail, safari, game center, and so on but just can't do it.. Only thing I can do is hide it so I don't see it but it still exists.
For a PC however, it never hurts to have more CPU or ram because what about the people who do a lot of multitasking for their work? Or hardcore gamers? What about music producers who run like hundreds of plug-in's at a time during a session? It just makes it run smoother if you have more to work with. Can never have too much! If you prefer a Mac OS, then you can install Mac into a PC as well. If you like their Magic mouse, or apple keyboards, then it's not limited to only mac's. For those who are not computer savvy and don't mind spending the money, then Apple isn't that bad of a choice.
