iPhone 3g Compatibility

I am looking for a good head unit to use with my iPhone 3g. I have noticed a bunch don't charge it and I would need one that does. I was looking at a couple from alpine, jvc and pioneer. I found a good review of the deh600ub at zollotech.com here

I was wondering what your thought is on this and if you could recommend this one or if anyone had experience with this head unit or other brands.

I am using my iphone with my Clarion Max675VDII. It charges and displays all the ipod info on screen. U can check it out on cnet.com.

I am considering selling mine and maybe going to a carputer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

iPhone or iPhone 3g?

If it's standard iPhone then you don't apply to this thread, this is only for the 3g which has issues with charging via vehicle adapters due to modifications apple made.

The only deck that I know that works is the Alpine ida-X100. It charges and controls, and calls are still able to come in.

I know for sure that none of the Pioneer or JVC's work (Have called tech support for both.)

The other Alpines (and Pioneers) will have cables out in the future for the 3G.

that is not correct. some of the ida-x100 units work with the 3g, some do not. there is no reasoning behind this. i had the x100 and it would not recognize my 3g. i talked to alpine directly who informed me that the only hu they produce that is guaranteed to work with the 3g is the x305.

i have a kenwood x993 and it works perfectly with my 3g - charges, displays all info on screen, very fast to start play (under 5 seconds). no addition cables were needed either. i just plugged the white apple cord into the built-in usb cable of the x993 and that was it.

just wanted to add that the sony cdx-gt630ui is 3g compatible as well. i just installed one in a friend's car for his wife. it's not a bad little budget hu either. 3 sets of preouts, hpf, lpf, sub control, front panel usb and aux-in, 2 colors (blue or green), 3 band eq (low, mid, high).
