ipad install

Since you replied to my sarcasm nicely, I'll help you out.

Your ipad cannot control your cars system.

Your ipad doesnt have any RCA outputs to go to your amps.

So, what you need to do is figure out a way to mount your ipad AND a headunit, that way you run your ipad to the headunit via usb (or bluetooth I suppose, but usb would charge the ipad while its mounted)

You need a stereo/headunit to process the signal from the source (ipad being the source)

an ipad is NOTHING more than a large screen ipod and it will be treated that way in an ipad install

There is always the other option of using a processor of some sort and bypassing the requirement for any source unit. We have used the bitone for this with great results.
Yeah... for $700.. and you still have to put it somewhere.

You could buy a whole ipad and a killer headunit for that price and have the same functionality.

They can be found for cheaper. However the discussion of cost per result was not involved here. There are several variations of processors that would work just as well.

On the other side of this conversation, there is not a single source unit that can provide the amount of control and quality output that a bitone can. Not saying it is the most cost effective, but well worth the funds for anyone who wants the quality of sound and control they offer. As for installing it, very easy. It can be mounted in the back by the amps and the remote can be mounted on the dash or center console or where ever else. Far easier then finding locations for an ipad and a stereo.

The dude wanted to know if he could get RID of a headunit and replace it with an ipad, not addon a $700 accessory (usually that price everywhere)

Thats all I was getting at

Price wasn't mentioned was my point. The suggestion I gave of using a processor(no you don't have to use the bitone, several options out there) is the only way to run an Ipad with no stereo at all.

what rabbit said is a good way to go. pricy but good way to go. OP said he wanted to get rid of headunit. this does that. OP didn't want to buy another headunit to replace his current headunit to run the ipad with a headunit.

ive had plenty of success routing the ipad signal threw crossovers, line drivers, and eqs but it always worked best with a deck with bluetooth or usb control you can always hide your deck you can get a cheap bt pioneer deck off ebay for 60 to 70 bucks
