Inverting Subs?

I know that inverted means you mount them with the magnet outside the box, but what's the effect? Is it louder? Cleaner? The same?

Also, if it's inverted, the speaker cable would be visible, no? Finally, would you reccomend inverting two 8" Assassins, or just put them in a sealed box like normal?

So, would my box still need to be the same size (as far as airspace goes)? If so, I think I could make it look pretty sexy in my truck. I'm picturing it in my head has having the two magnets being the arrows

And in my limited space, a .45 cu ft box on both sides shouldn't be too tough //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Hmm, how will I mount it inverted? Am I goint to have to put the back wall of the box on AFTER screwing the sub in? And you mean to just switch the positive and negative cables, right?

reverse the polarity on the subs to ensure correct phasing.
inverted or convential mounted you should play around with the phasing of the subs as ever car enviroment and set up is different, the only time you need to make sure of the phassing is when 1 sub is inverted and the other is not, then they need to be in opposite phases

accoustically you should see no difference, i have run 2 mtx9500 inverted

I should make the hole in my box the same size whether inverted or not inverted, right? And from the looks of this picture, this should be easy to screw in inverted.

yes to all questions, looks like you're on the right track //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

pics when you get them in!

Sweet, and pics will definitely come. I'm calling crutchfield tomorrow and sending back some 12"s I bought (no way five people said they'd buy them, and all of them changed their mind, bastards) and ordering everything as soon as I get the credit from those back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I asked this in another topic, but it was never answered, how much would it cost for me to run 4gauge wire instead of the 8gauge I already have ran? And how hard/easy is it? Apparently, my current 8 gauge won't be able to handle anymore than around 450w, and I was kind of hoping to give 300w to each one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
