Invert Component Mid

I am building an RC power wheels vehicle for a fun toy. I will be putting a single din head unit in it for some audio. I want to mount a set of cheap component speakers I have laying around. I don't have quite enough space to mount 5.25" normally. Will it make a difference to invert mount them?

Think about the obstruction of the back side of the woofers. The center of the cone is where the higher frequencies originate from. You will hear the mids, and maybe that's all that matters in this case, but it should never be done in a normal installation where good sound matters.

Just like a sub. Can't invert tweeters though since they are incased
Obviously most tweeters can't, haha

I seem to recall KHA saying that it would cause phase issues or something because of the motor being an obstruction.

Also, I think he mentioned what trumpet said about lacking higher frequencies.

Does the motor obstruct subs? It's a power wheels.

We have done it on midbass drivers because they would not clear. Also there are inverted tweeters out there. Focal

It may obstruct a bit with subs, but they're less directional and don't deal with high frequencies, so it doesn't matter.

That's why I said most tweeters. Pretty sure some vifas can also be inverted. I could be mistaken about those though

If you talk obstructions just look at coaxials

I wouldn't do it but this is a power wheel.

And what do coaxials have in the middle? ZTweters for higher frequencies than the mids are intended to produce.

Also, I think coaxials are garbage. Will never run them in my car again.

Active with seperated drivers is the best way to go, imo.

If you RTA it, it will show a clear difference. There was a diyma thread long ago with such results. You get weird dips and spikes because the emphasized backwave reflections due to the larger cone surface area firing to rear compared to firing on axis. Motor obstruction is a lot more apparent in midrange than subs.

I got them mounted normally. One edge of the magnet touches plastic on the inside of the seat. No big deal. They are mounted on the back side of the seat. This isn't a critical application. Some music while in the pool or sitting beside the burn pit. Will straighten left one out before the seat gets painted. I was going to try 6x9" but it just wasn't going to happen! I am converting it RC to play around, keep a few beers under the hood, have some mobile music and chase the kiddo around while he cruises on all his modded ride ons.
