Theres 100 different things we would need to know in order to fix the problem, Spyware? Virus? What kind of connection he has? I could keep going and going.....

also you should defrag once in awhile.......start/all programs/accessories/system tools/defrag

all easy things to take care of which you should take care of even if you change browsers spyware and viruses dont clean themselfs.

uninstall the old version and upgrade to their newest beta version... works great for me. Works a little different but seems to make it more efficient.. dunno.. good luck--

search for and run spy-bot too. Sounds like you caught something that is using your bandwidth.

DO NOT use the beta version of a MS browser if you are not fairly proficient with pc's

Especially an MS browser beta.

That goes double for the OS as well

or if your one of the 70 percent of people who have a illegalcopy of windows lol, i say this because if your not smart enough to fix IE , then perhaps your not smart enough to crack microsofts Genuine Validation

Also try going to the start menu and choose run, then type mrt.exe, and that will scan and remove/repair any infections. Was handy when W32.Gael was giving me hassles.

I just downloaded spybot search and destroy and it turns out there was a browser highjacker that was slowing down my computer. It's still slower than usual though but not as slow as before . 2morrow I'm going to get some virus scanner.
