Installed the Q's

Perhaps he expected too much going from an 18 to two 15s?
More displacement should mean more low end.

If you are doing 148 in the kick at 28Hz on Term Lab, either the Term Lab is messed up or your deffanition of low is rather odd. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Yes, a lot of low end SQ subs lack athority on the low lows. However the Q series hardly looks like a low end SQ sub.

We all must remember Ramos's formula at this moment and begin to question why these are lacking low end when everyone else who has heard them thinks just the opposite.

I'm not calling bad install, but install makes or brakes sound, especially low end.

weird. ive agreed with you twice in like the past week.

what goin on here?!?

Hmmmm.... not what I or anyone else have heard with them yet (and I am pretty familiar with all subs mentioned)... But, that with the suspension you need to break them in alot more. They are pretty stiff to begin with and after a while they soften up quite a bit. Changes specs a fair amount once they settle in. Do you have a test tone disc? Id say let them move about 2" on a track well below tuning for an hour or two and listen again. They get fairly well broken in with about a 3-400W in freeair at 20Hz after a couple of hours. While adding more power will get them louder, it will not change the overall sound at all... but it will accelerate them breaking in which will.

Keep us all posted.

word

It wouldnt be bad, just that tuning much lower exagerates the bottom end way too much given most vehicles transfer functions. 28 Hz seems to be a good limit for most systems for a low tuning... I think that with some break in they will open up and start dropping deeper. I have listened to a 12" in 2.2 cuft @ 28Hz, 2.5 @ 33Hz, 1 cuft sealed, and the 15" in 3.5 cuft @ 28 Hz in the same vehicle. All of them played very low... but these had been well worn in on the bench to test TS params from.

Im out of town right now and dont have them with me, but Ill get the Q and SSD up on Monday when Im back. I did get the X up before I left...

BTL specs are taking much longer and a good majority of them will be incorporated into the tech section for all of the options. Simply too much to list in the regular TS section... thatll be just the standard 2 magnet versions.

Alright Scott, Since they came in I have been giving them a good break in routine so we will wait and see. I've been sending it numerous tones, from 20-25 but not for a long long period of time so there is still alot left to do.

Loyd was right...lol the box tuning is at 28hz guys, it did the 148 at 40hz.

HotCarl- No it does not sound poopy at all

I will add that when Ryan an Ray first saw the sub, they instantly said..."sx" "mt" lol. I told them what I have been hearing an that it should act nothing like an sx or mt but after the first listens they couldn't have been more right. But then again I guess they need to break in a little more an we will see what changes, but I doubt it can be so drastic, but dont get me wrong, I am very happy with these drivers they are very interesting.

CBfry-The install is perfectly fine, not goin to get any better. Like Ray said if he could change something because he now knows the woofer, the tuning should have been higher. And I agree so far.

80 Inches- I think that would KILL //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
