Installed Sound Deadening ran into problem.

I think I may have put too much on cause when I was finished my door panels would not snap back on right, it kept poping back out. Only 2 thing i could do would be:

1. push it in, and screw it back and hope it doesn't crack or pop off.

2. There is styrofoam on the inside of the door panel. If I take it out along with the cheap looking carpet/foam covering it should fit back on fine. Though i'm not sure if this styrofoam has to be there or what purpose it serves or if it's a good idea to even remove it. I was thinking if i took it off to use the left over deadener and line the inside of the door panel. Is this a good option? or shoot for option 1?

the foam is there for support so the door doesnt flex in at that point. i often take it out doing installs. it is hard foam but it doesnt make a world off difference if its not in there. the carpet is basically a cheap sound deadening/wire management system. as long as your wiring wont be draping into the joints for the door handles etc, and the door doesnt dip in where the foam was, it will be just fine to take it out. i would add deadener to that spot on the panel though, especially if its a large plane. if its real big, it may affect the ridgidity of the door.

i always try to use new pins on the door panel too. They're cheap on ebay

yeah the plastic clips that hold the door pannel in might be broken or stripped

ya i am def getting new clips. I broke 1 and lost another and one got really bent and they are pretty old. Though the clips def not the problem holding the door. I just put too much deadener that it built out alot. I'm going ot take out the styrofoam and just put layer or 2 of deadener on the panel itself. At this point the door panel is starting to crack up by the window ledge and keep takign it off and on off an on keeps making it worse so wanna get that sucker back on and keep it there or else i'll be searching junk yards for a new door panel //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Little update.

I took the styrofoam out of the door panels and they fit on alot better now. I didn't get a chance to put any deadner on the inside of the panels cause i ran into another problem! I knew the speakers I got where going to be too big and it's cause me to do alot of customizing to the door pannels now. I started to dremel out the hole already there fromt eh stock speaker but now it's going to be huge and take out a big chunk (i hade to build out 1 inch form the door so it woudl fit.) Only problem i'm seeing is the final result may not look too neat but guess this is the sacrafice I have to make for having good sound. I'm just hoping after all this work and effort i'm putting in that they sound good (or better then my old alpine coax ones) but something is telling me i mgiht be disappointed seeing as the effort has been taxing. It's wait and see at this point.....GULP....

i'll get up some pictures tomorrow. In the morning i am going to work on it and try to make it work. Prob not going to look pretty but just hope it works out.
