Installed Pioneer DEH-P6500, can't hear anything!

I just installed a used Pioneer DEH-P6500 in my 1996 Subaru Legacy Outback. It turns on and everything, I can play a CD, change the channel, et cetera... Only trouble is that I can't actually hear anything! Has anyone else encountered this trouble? I'm thinking that it might just be something weird about the settings on the stereo itself (I've never had a stereo this high-tech before)... Like maybe it's just muted or something weird like that. Any thoughts?

Sounds alot like there might be some factory amplifier somewhere. I don't know much about Outbacks..so I cannot say for sure. Best way to test this is to get your DMM and test the resistance on the speaker wires. You want somewhere between 2-4 ohms...if its so crazy high number, those wires are connected to the input of an amplifier. Check this first then get back to me
