Ok guys After 6 long hours between yesterday and today...

I HAVE FINALLY INSTALLED MY AFTERMARKET ALTERNATOR!!!!!!!

First let me tell you, reading about installing an alternator seemed pretty easy, just a few bolts, remove the belt, and electrical port...seemed easy enough...But NOT on a **** 92 honda civic. It was a biatch like crazy to get the alternator out with just a simple car jack. I had to remove the power steering, and a few other stupid hoses and wires that were getting in the way, and then OMG the **** bolts were like rusted shut, even with rust remover took all of my strength to loosen them. I am so tired after doing it that I say to hell with it with the big 3 for now, ill do that some other time. RIght now the belt still makes a noise when the car starts, im assuming I need some oil or fluid on the belt a little to make it stop, it only does it for like 2 seconds though.

Now, I know I need to do the positive alt to the battery, negative to the iron of the car, and then the engine block to the iron of the car, I know where 2 of the 3 places are, and i Think I know the 3rd part of the big 3 but im not sure, help would be nice, its in the 3rd picture I believe

Pic of the Area that I had to work with, its all the way down below, freaking ANNOYING. It might look easy, but its a biatch. You see at the bottom of the screen on the valve cover, is that the engine block ground to the chass? the other half of that is bolted onto the iron of the car, I think thats the thrid part of the big 3???

well the battery negative to chassidy, is like a 6 inch wire, that very simple, and the pos alt to the postive battery is pretty easy to access, its just a bolt that comes off and on and that was probably the easiest part of the whole thing, Im just not quite sure where the chassidy to the engine block wire is, I think its in the first picture. which is even easier than the neg to chass part of the big 3

well 160 amps was for $150 shipped, and that was a steal, I didnt want to end up spending $400 for a **** alternator, i think 160 is gonna be just fine, especially with the kinetiks im ordering.

My alternator went out last summer and I replaced with just a regular alternator and it took me 15 minutes to take off and put on other one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

S-10's ftw

Single cab ftl

yeah well a few of my friends had always said chassidy like dumbasses, and I just took after them and said it... thx for letting me know though. Yeah hondas are CRAP to get to the alternator, and the higher ampage alternator was alot bigger than the stock one, thats why it took so long, I did replace a few other parts on the car, so it really didnt take 6 hours more like 4-5...oh well.... the big 3 really shouldnt be that difficult though

Most of you guys are lucky, even 2 hours to change an Alternator, I feel your pain Kris, My buddy has an Isuzu Rodeo(I blieve) and well, we wanted to do his big 3, but found out real quick that was going to be an all day event!!! So getting this done is a good thing, and you know you can get to the wires for the big3 easily later, Good stuff!! Also I think it looks good!!
