Installed my 7998 today!!!!

Well ive only had it installed for a few days but some of the differences that I can tell so far are that the xover and eq are way more flexable, the pre out voltages are much higher, and there is no where near as much noise coming from the unit as there was with my 9815. Those are some what I have noticed so far but I have only had maybe an hour to mess around with it so after this weekend I should have a better idea of the differences.

ya i am thinking of buying it and sending it in to be fixed good idea?? and i noticed it was powered by preamp whats that mean and is there anything speacial needed to make this HU work or is it as easy as taking out my old HU then rewiring then slapping this bad boy in?

The 7998 is a "dead head" and has no internal amp. You would have to have an amplifier to run any speakers.

The CDA-7998 is considered by many to be the last of the "great sq" decks from Alpine before they seperated the lines (normal vs F#1).
