Installed my 7" Dayton RS speakers

Hey.. thanks to those who recommended these.

At first, I sealed up one door even better than I had them, put as much deadner inside the door panel that I could fit through the speaker hole, then installed a large pad of .75" acoustic foam in the door just behind the speaker. I also made a speaker gasket out of some gaskatape. (Its a material used to make gaskets for high end windows and doors like Andersen) I left the Type R in the other door for comparison. The Dayton had a much clearer sound, but not nearly as much midbass or bass at all for that matter as compared to the Type R. Clearly just not meant to perform in a big door like this so..

I pulled the RS back out, plugged half the speaker hole with a piece .75" acoustic foam (pic 1), then covered the other half of the hole with the gaskatape pvc foam (pic 2) This foam has its own sealing PSA on that back, which will help to hold the acoustic foam piece in place and not fall into the door.

Wow, talk about a major difference. With both RS speakers installed this way, with just the fronts going, you can feel the bass in yer azz.. and in your paint legs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif These are awsome, and have absolutely great vocals compared to the Rs. I finally have a full sound coming from my front stage. Its made the entire system sound better. Tight, clear and precise just as I love it. (I may just stick with my 1.3 ft/3 sealed sub box now..)

Thanks again for all those who gave there suggestions for replacing my blown front driver.

ps On a side note, even at -6db my tweeters from the Type R set seemed too loud in comparison to the 7" woofers. So I turned them back a little so they do not face directly at you (Most people seem to say they should angle up toward your ears) They sound more balanced and full now. (I believe this is what home speaker guys call listening to the tweeter off axis?)

also did you notice if your doors were alot heavier, like with the deading and whatnot

No, the door does not feel any heavier. (In the Lincoln the door is fairly thick already, and backside of the door panel is already covered .5" thick sound absorbing pad, which is heavier than all of the deadner I put on it)
