Installed amp and sub in 2002 RSX-S and sub volume goes up and down.

2002 RSX Type S with Bose system. We used a LOC from Crutchfield and tapped into the wires from the Richbass subwoofer and everything seemed to sound ok when testing. We then drove around and turned the volume up and the bass notes seemed to start loud then go down, then repeat. This is in a hatch so I was expecting the output to be much louder but it wasnt. Suggestions?

Check to see if the factory head unit has ASL or any automatic leveling for the factory radio, alot of cars come with this feature which is very annoying...
