so do the subs used the trunk as their enclosure? and is there a port in there somewhere into the cabin or does the trunk act as a huge sealed box?
That's what I want to know. I wish I had a trunk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

are those subs meant to be used in iso mount?
Iso mount? I'm not sure what you mean by iso mount. The subs are suitable for IB use according to ID's website. In fact any sub can be used IB from what I understand. It's just that some do better than others.

Definition of Infinite baffle - An enclosure that is larger than the VAS of the driver, or, any baffle board where there is no path for the energy from the rear of the woofer to meet the energy from the front of the woofer.

So yes the trunk acts as a really big enclosure, although a box that is larger than the vas of the driver could be considered an IB install as well.

There is not port anywhere in the cabin, the trunk behaves like a huge sealed box. Isolating the front from the rear wave as much as humanly possible is the key to the install.

IB is possible in an suv or truck it's just a hell of a lot more work and you have to be willing to cut in some cases. I've seen an suv with an IB install and it sounded great.

No offense taken. I don't know what it is exactly but I have quite a few friends who have Maxima's. I know I just love em, they look good and are dependable as hell if you maintain em. It doesn't hurt that they are pretty quick either.
I have a nissan/infinity boner too... BIG fan of I35(maxima).. G35 is more fun but anywho

so i'm assuming not all subs can be used in this way(infinite baffle) correct? would the manufacterr say so on their website or would u have to look at the drivers spec to find out?
I'm sure if you were really smart you could know by specs, but usually the manufacturer will tell you if IB is an option for any given sub they make.

On the contrary I've gained output while lowering the amount of power necessary to get that output. It takes less power to reach maximum excursion in an IB installation. In other words you are increasing effeciency.

oh really? everyone i talked to says i'll lose some output, but that's promising to hear that you gained a bit of output. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
