Install on Peterbilt

I am doing a DIY install on my 05 peterbilt. I have done the 3 step upgrade on the electrical system in the past. I have 4 batteries and a 160 amp alternator. The question is with the grounding of my amps. The sleeper area is comprised of aluminum. The nearest steel ground from where my amps are located is 10ft, the frame. Is that to far from the amps to be grounded properly? What size ground wire will effectively ground the amps? I have a 1000 watt sub amp and a 300 watt 4 channel amp. Thanks in advance for the help.

What size is your charging wire that you upgraded?

I would use a MINIMUM of 1/0.

10ft grounds are not gonna be happy. Can you not ground the amps to one of your batteries neg post?

The batteries are right under the driver seat area in a side box outside the cab. It would be over 20 ft of ground wire from the amps snaked thru the interior to the batteries. The charging wire is 2/0.
