Install Error? Not much output.

I did a direct swap out from my 2 mtx 10" Black Golds and Phoenix Gold XS2500 amp, so the wiring is exactly the same. So my guess is since the wiring was good before, it should be good now. I'll double check everything later today tho.

It's kind of hard doing a "direct swap out" when you go from 2 - 10 inch subs to 1 - 12 inch sub. I realize the number of coils are the same but a "direct swap out" implies you pulled the old subs one at a time from your old box and put replacement in by simply reconnecting the wires on the new subs in the same places they were on the old. In this case that is not possible, and probably what you did was you connected a voice coil out of phase. It's the most likely candidate in this scenario.

No no, not direct swap for the wiring for the subs. A direct swap for the amp.

Make sure your polarity is correct. If you've swapped a + and - the subs or coils will be out of phase and cancel almost all sound out. This is where you should start.

I just hooked up my 12" IDQD2v3 to my Kicker ZX1000.1. I wired the sub up in series and the sub is in my trunk, facing the rear. The problem is, to get alot of bass output, my gains and bass boost on my amp needs to be at 3/4 full. Is that normal? When turned down to 1/2, the bass is anemic. Is there something wrong with the install? Anything I need to look at? I keep the bass settings on my HU to '0' like I always have and my xover is set at 80.
Since its an Alpine, what is your subwoofer setting at? if its at 0 the amp is getting a very VERY small amount of Voltage to it thus causing u to have to turn your gains up unnecessarily high

Its at 0. I thought I read that that's what u want it at? Since the HU sends a dirtier signal? Am i wrong? The HU was set at 0 with my old setup.

trial and error...but i had to turn the sub setting up on a friends setup to get adequate voltage to the amplifier...Im not saying do it but try it, it might help
