I talked to the box builder of my area yesterday.
He's really the only one.
He first walked out, saw my truck and talked about t he usual which is two JL shallow mounts in a down firing box that he builds and has one premade.
Then I brought up the idear of 8's and he said what he could do there is build them in an upfiring fiberglass box and the air space would be perfect for them.
And would help with the mounting depth.
Price is a little steep but I think he's right.
The 8's that I'm looking at all suggest 0.75 ported volume max.
