Insight on decent sub setup, underseat of GMC Sierra ext cab.

Alright I've been out of th game for awhile fella's.

The last subs I bought were12" first Gen powerbass 2xl's and first Gen 12" Type R's had plenty of space as well.

This my first pickup truck to try and put a set of subs in, so Idk what will sound best.

How many subs and what size?

It's a 2008 Sierra ext cab, premade boxes available are sized at 1.25 cu ft max with a puny 5.5" mounting depth.

That's just to give ya'll an idea of available room under the seat.

The direction I'm currently headed towards is making my own box and putting a pair of powerbass S-series 12" single 4 ohm subs.

Would be ported, tuned to 29hz.

It's hard to even get excited about that.

What would ya'll do?

Man, I sure hate to hear that.

I saw that M/A audio took a turn for the worse as well, right about the time I quit buying.

Even RF had me dissapointed after the HE line up.

Thanks for the heads up.

i vote 4 8's forward firing with passenger side port probably 2 4" aero/pvc. fiberglass bottom for the needed volume.on a 4kw
Fiberglass bottom is a great idea.

I've been getting discouraged looking at all the humps and dips on the floor, fiberglass will make it easy on me for sure.

.........

If any of ya'll have any advice on who does make a decent mid cost sub, I'm all ears for anything except kicker.

Just keep in mind they are going into a small ported/vented box

Lifting your seat always adds air space also.. 2" in a 2004 Sierra

Are you running two 8's or two 10's ?

What kind of in cab sound/ feeling does that setup give?

I'm considering some Skar MA-8's with pretty much the same style of box.

Haven't found any recent discussion of skar sub quality though.

Get those 608s from anthony, very good subs and seller dude. I ran a pair of those 60is in 1.68cuft net at 30hrtz, very pleased with the low end, would have probably been better at 34hrtz though. You won't be disappointed.

Sundown x8's on a twisted sounds 1.8kw 2.13 cu box tuned to 33hz

Sounds great and shakes the cab good

Not at all. Only the speaker's sensitivity is what counts in the front stage. 90dB and above is a good target.

One or two, they are still subwoofer outs and are mono summed signals from both left and right. Even the 2 RCA subwoofer pre-outs on the 2nd one...
