I'm going for sound quality and here is what I have to work with. Eclipse CD3100 H/U. Install is going to be in a mid size extended cab truck. The box size i've come up with is going to give me 0.68 cubic feet without speaker displacement. So I know its going to be an 8 or 10 inch sub. The amp is hopefully going to be a Zapco Reference 350.2 (350X1 @ 4 ohms). My budget is $300 max.

So with that said what is my best choice? Also, for any truck people what is the best way to have the sub face for SQ? Thanks for any help.

first of all, you will want more power going to a sub than 350 rms. look for at least 600 watts rms. That zapco amp could work with a set of comps, but even 100 watts per side is kinda low.

an Fi Q 10" or even a 12 would work for you, but they are going to want about 1000rms.

you can get a Pheonix Gold RSD 10" for $109, and use the extra money to get an amp that will push 600 rms or so to it.

and if you are looking for components for your system at a good price, look at the Pheonix Gold RSD 6.5" comps. give them about 120-150 watts rms and they will blow you away for not much money

350 watts is plenty for a sub.not everyone wants to hit 145 db's every day.

edit: 100 watts per "side" is also plenty for comps. wtf are you talking about?

what does the amount of watts have to do with sound quality? 350 is plenty of power for a truck SQ setup

Dayton Reference HO 10. it'll like a .7cuft box. port it if you can though. i have mine in .72cuft net tuned to roughly 29-30hz. it sounds amazing and actually has awesome output even on just 400 watts rms. it is extremely efficient in this box.

I did forget to say the box size (10.5x14x12).So mounting depth shouldnt be a problem. I only have 10.5 inches to work with for width so that limits me to a 10 at most, which is fine with me. I have a sale pending on a Zapco Reference 350.2 and a 200.2 for a set of front speakers. I know its not alot of power but i'm not looking for anything loud at all, just clean and small. I was looking at the JL10w3v2 and I see a few people mentioned the JL10W6 but doesnt that sub only come as a dual 4 ohm? that would leave me at 2 ohms mono ?, instead of 4.

Also I looked up the Image Dynamics IDv3 10in sub and that seems like a good possible choice. I cant find a price tho.

The only problem I see is that you have 10.5 total width. I dont think I'd want to have a sub with only 1/4 inch of wood on each side.
