I am extremely pleased the bass I am getting outta my one 12" Alpine Type R, but I am not satisfied with my highs. I was in my friends Camry the other day and her highs DESTROYED mine and I have cheap Kenwoods all the way around (her speaks were stock). So I am considering getting some Infinity Ref components (6 1/2). Are these good speakers for highs? I do not care a **** about getting bass from them, at least nothing too low. I realize there are better components but I can't afford much more than these (even these are up there). Also, I realize to get full potential I will need to amp these. How will a Profile 200sx amp work (60x2). I can't afford much more than this. I just want your opinions on how this should work out. Also if anyone has any other amp suggestions please give them.. but keep in mind I am on a tight budget.

BTW, I drive a Escort Zx2.

do NOT get these if you want bass! I have them as my highs and love them greatly. they rock and have nice crisp sound... but whenever i turn up my bass on my HU the sound TERRIBLE! not only does it sound bad but the grill rattles alot. they are perfect if you want them for highs but not for nbass. if your amp is connected to your HU and you get these, you WILL need some bass blockers because they sound so bad at low frequencies:D

You donyt really need an amp goin to them, i mean it wont hurt but mine are going off of my HU and sound perfect! these speakers sound exelent and are a good choice!

I DON'T want bass outta these speakers. I wanna know if they are good for highs. You said they were. Also, can anyone comment on the amp I listed. If i get these components I should set the low passover to wear it plays from the highest hertz in the low range right?

Also, do most of you agree that these speaks don't need amped? I imagine they should sound clean and clear without amping, but I want them to be able to play nice and loud to go with the nice bass I am getting.

they will play clean and crisp at lower volumes without amping...

im throwing a few watts at em (very few) and tehy sound GREAT

nice crispo bright sound, very little midbass, but meh, who needs it right??

lol my 8's do that for me, lol.

I am familiar with both the Camry stock stuff and the Infinity's. You will really want an amp, it makes a big difference. If you go Profile, get the Clarus series instead of the California. There is only a slight difference, but it is worth the slight difference in price. If I were you I would just do it up right the first time, and not have to go get another amp later. Get the JBL P180.2, it will work very well with the Infinity's. It will also give you the crossover you need to block out those low frequencies. I'm not sure where you are getting your stuff from, but the Infinity's are $119 and the JBL is $149 at http://www.ikesound.com .
