:(Ihave a 98 Town & Country with the Infinity sound system and i purchased a new head unit and noticed clipping once the volume is raised above 30 which is midway anyway we tried to find out if there is an individual factory amp installed but cant find it . Iwas told i nedded a OEM interface differential Converter (what ever that may be) ...well i dont know what to do i like the sound of the stock sytem but cant get it to play at decent vol i cant find the amp and i dont know what a OEM interface diff conv actually does. I really hope someone can shed some light for me .

I am going to take a shot in the dark but I would think that your problem is your new HU has its own amp and is amplifying the signal and then sending it to an amp to amplified again. I think the stock HU in cars with stock amps use the speaker wire like RCAs so that converter probably drops the voltage from the HU.

i'm not sure about infinity, but in stock bose systems, you can find some really low ohm levels on the speakers. could be that the infinity was running under 4 ohms

the crazy thing is the new H.U. does not come with amp, i have a SONY MEX-BT2700 the vol can only go to about 30 which is abouthalf way, now dont get me wrond everything sounds very good its the cliping thats anoying and not knowin gwhere to find the amp is the problem then maybe i could see what they were working with.

that Hu does have an internal amp... If you connected it with the speaker wire to the stock amp in the car then It may be over powering the amp. If i am right it would be like running the out put of one amp to another amp to power your speakers the second amps input would be to high and it would clip.
