Infamous Good, Bad, and Ugly

Hello,

I am yet another member from CAC. I am not really posting to argue or stir up shit or anything, but basically I'd like to add that one of the people who originally maintained that list is quite biased towards certain brands and everything else is junk. This is why some of the decent brands are Bad, Avoid, or Questionable. If he was still around, Exile audio, and Eclipse would be the only two things on the list because they're the only brands that are worth using. Of course, a few weeks ago, that might have been kicker and pioneer. or JVC and focal. Or elevation and Kenwood. Or RE. Basically, the list needs to be redone (and i've suggested that a few times before) because half the thing is somewhat out of date, and because of the bias from the former person. Now days, anything maxxsonics would be "Avoid" because bill from cac runs it (but exile would be on top!) (assuming JFD was still around).

Like i said earlier, i think that the list should be redone. I deffinitely think it is a decent reference for the car audio newbie trying to figure out of that Kenmore deck is good or not, but at the same time, brands should be categorized by members of the entire community, rather than just a few people. that would be hard to organize but overall i think would make for a better list.

CAC is obviously a much different board then this place. Such things do NOT FLY there. With the members of all things- then the Moderators/Admins.

Being a mod doesn't exempt us from being able to point out the idiocy of information presented on the forum. If something posted is utterly senseless, such as that steaming pile of cow dung you call a list, we're going to point out the absurdity of the information.

yo you got some shit wrong in there. in the general category you have Elemental Designs in the questionable they should be in the good, and you have the solobarics in the questionable granted i have blown one but i would buy another one if i wanted spl with out thinking about it. that is all your opinion but you need to rethink some of them.

Thats your opinion. I dont consider a company "Good" when the products self destruct, the owner and its workers directly LIE to the consumers. When these practices stop and the products are actually QCed instead of just being signed off as if they were- then maybe I will see to bumping them up a notch.

Youre right its my opinion as well as others. Members on CAC are always welcomed to tell us their thoughts on equipment and the list. We change as needed, not as told.

This list has been argued many, many, many times over. Mainly due to the fact people dont READ the first few paragraphs and blow it completely out of context. When you do this, sure its not a good list. But its a good tool for a newb so they KNOW that Pyramid amplifier is a pile.. .or pyle is a pile?

This is the infamous Good, Bad, and Ugly list.
These are some generalized groupings and very subjective. We've simply stated our experiences with the products whether they are direct installs, personal property or extensive research. You should always physically audition a product before purchase because you are the one who will determine whether or not an item "sounds good" or not.

The overall groupings are based on performance, reliability, and build quality, without regard to price.

This topic, while being controversial, is simply a generalized guide meant for beginners in the hobby. Many brands specialize in certain items, ie. better amplifiers than speakers, better mids than subs, etc... Also almost all manufacturers offer entry level products as well as high performance lines. Good luck with your decisions.

The fact of it is. YOU CANNOT LIST A PRODUCT AS BAD OR QUESTIONABLE. Build quality is the only thing that you could possibly grade.

These lists make me laugh, and the fact that people would waste their time making them makes me laugh harder.

You know what this list tells me about those that made it. Is that they have been around generic installs, and have never really done much in the way of detail work with various brands.

Just because you install doesnt mean you know your shit

Car Audio is 99% install. Any brand has the potential when put in the hands of an experienced individual.
