Ive been trying to decide whcih sub to go with for a while now an am still not any closer to a decision. Either will be a 15" ran off of a AQ 2200D at 1 ohm. I will more than likely ran the amp at about 1600~1800 watts for either sub just to make sure that its not being sent a clip signal. I think for either sub this would be sufficent. The encloser will be built around which ever sub is chosen. I like to sound good, yet still get a bit loud when its like to show off, if that makes sense. lol. I mostly listen to older raggae with just a little bit of rap mixed in. I just sold my 15" Fi Q and was wanting something that can dominate the low end as it did, but still put out at higher frequencies (for a sub that is). Am willing to pay around $360 for a solid 15". Which would be the best solution for my current situation. Either will be going into an ext. cab Dodge Dakota.

DR is similar to DDs 3500.. low inductance low MMS.. designed to be efficient and sound great with 1200-2k.. the DR is ideal wit about 1500 though..

I was thinking on having the DR with a DP voice coils. This should help with raising the rms a bit, shouldnt it?

I am pretty sure the DR is a 4-layer... if so the DP coil will not fit.

Nick said that it was possible, but its 3 things am trying to find out here. Will the DP be awhole lot louder than the DR placed in each sub optimal size ported box off of say, 1500~1800 watts? Or should I just get a Aplha V2 and call it a day? The DR and Alpha are around the same price with the Alpha having a bit more RMS rating, whereas the DP is $140~$150 more than the previous 2 subs. Will the diifference in output be worth the extra money?

Just get the DR or check out the Z15 V1's on clearance. If you're not into competing and just want to get loud while still sounding good...I'd look into those.

Get the DR > build quality enclosure > install sub > set the gains correctly > win.
