It's TECHNICALLY a dual chamber bass reflex enclosure....

It's kind of like a ported box with two tuning frequencies - the second tuning is double the first (so 30hz and 60hz, or 32 and 64hz).

Also, all ports will be internal and the center port is NOT at it's final position in those pics.

ABC enclosures are pretty overrated. The higher tuning frequency didn't gain me any output but just had better cone control and reduced distortion a little bit. Mine did sound better than the ported enclosure I had that had similar airspace and tuning. It wasn't any louder but sounded better in the upper frequencies. The tuning is also closer to 1.9 times the first tuning frequency. Mine measured with tones to be tuned around 31 and 59

That's the point //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Ported, the response of this woofer is has one extreme peak then falls quickly. Sealed, it doesn't have a lot of output.

The whole thing was just an experiment. I really don't know how well the ads is going to like the large airspace, but according to winisd, it's controlled.

The main reason I decided to play with ABC is because you don't see that many people building them - also, it gets this little sq12 a good bit louder and hopefully the second tuning frequency flattens out the nasty peaky nature of the typical ported box (for this woofer)

Please excuse the burn marks around the woofer hole... MY jasper 200 decided to be a pos and broke and I my jigsaw bit is ready to bite the dust, figuratively. Also, that last pic, dunno what happened. I have no viewfinder on my camera - broken - so I couldn't tell...

Yep, I designed it. Not a lot to go off of other than diysubwoofers's design notes. Also, a lot of playing with numbers to get the enclosure volume and tuning right.

Oh yah, and all those darker brown spots.... That's water from wiping up extra glue. It dries nicely. That or it's silicone to ensure an extra-nice seal.
