In-Line Fuse

I have a 4 gauge power wire running from my battery to my amps in the trunk. It had a 100 amp maxi fuse. It blew it. Now, i'm wondering whether it is worth looking to replace the fuse, or go to an ANL fuse. I recently bought a memphis big belle and it is rated at 6 x 30 amps. I have heard that you should fuse for the wire and not the amp. My question is, will a 100 amp in line fuse be acceptable?
