In general: JBL or Lightning Audio?

Hey all... i am having trouble which amp to stay with.. my lightning audio x1.1000.1d or my jbl 1200.1.. whichever i decide, i am taking the other back to the shop and trading it in for a second amp of the same that i am keeping. I will then buy matching subs/speakers to finish out my new system. In your opinion, how would you compare JBL to Lightning Audio? Which is cleaner, which is louder, which has better build quality, etc.. I know that the Lightning Audio Subs are cheaper, and they are pretty clean, but i fear that they cant get very loud, and i have never owned any JBL subs, but i have heard 2 GTi 10's off of an xtant 1001D.. not too bad, VERY clean! but only about 500W/ea. in a SMALL sealed box, so not very loud .. the JBL amps are cheaper and I like the performance of the JBL amp better, since it has been running at 1 ohm for about a month and has yet to shut off, but it pulls way more current than the Lightning Audio and doesnt have as many features i.e. remote, subsonic filter, bass eq, phase shift, etc. Can you get a remote bass made for the JBL amps? Anyway, i am really indecisive and i dont know what to go for.. please give any opinions, and advice.

Thanks,

Adam

I say go with the lightning audio. The shop that does my system carrries this line and they are great. I don't own any personally, but that is because i use eclipse. Lightning audio is a sisiter company of rockford fosgate. everything is built on the same platform except for the design. that is just a little food for thought. So stick with the lightning audio.

I had the exact same amp.. a jxp720 on 2 jensen 10's in a bandpass box from walmart.. $125 for 2 10's in a bandpass box and $179 for the amp (good thing i got it from best buy, i blew 2) ... for no more money than i spent, it was a decently put together first system.. didnt sound too bad.

Actually, all you have to do is adjust your gains and hu settings to where the output remains undistorted with the remote gain all the way up and you'll never have to worry about damaging your sub. I like my remote gain because not everyone wants to hear my subwoofer at the same level that I do. When other people who aren't as bass crazy as I am get into the truck, i drop the remote level to a comfortable listening level for them, that way my mids and highs can play at normal volume while the sub is cut back just a bit.....is also very handy for when you're cruising and see a cop //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

going with the title of the topic, in general JBl is better than lightning audio, one because they have been around longer and have a much better history, plus have a proven track record and decent build quality

Thanks Denim... I was leaning towards JBL.. If it were all for cosmetic appeal, i would go with Lightning.. They make awesome looking stuff.. Sepically they Strike series VC2 subs..

i own a strike amp and it puts out pretty clean power. never heard a JBL though. have still yet to encounter a problem with my amp.

i think the most useful feature is the bolt on fan. you can run it at the lower independences in small spaces with no worries.
