impedance levels

Is there an impedance level on a head unit. Can I put 8 ohm house speakers in my car.. their max is only 100 so my amp would blow them. But my hu pushes 20 rms. So could that work?

not recomended.

If you put a 8 ohm load, then your head unit will only do 10watts rms per channel. on house speakers that are 100rms.

some double dins put out like 22 i think

OP youre better off just getting some 4 ohm speakers. a 2 channel that puts out 100w @ 8 is gonna be kinda expensive

What he is saying is that they may be rated for 22W but you get about 5-10W of usable/listenable power at 4 ohms. 22W outnof a head unit would be pure distortion. The amp is smaller than a credit card.

So into an 8 ohms speaker, you'll have around 4-7W RMS of usable power. Enough for you to hear it, but don't expect to crank it up.
