IMHO GOD > Evolution

did the chicken come first or did the egg????
the chicken of course, from a creationist perspective...

my theory which somewhat explains many strong evolutionist arguements is:

when god created the earth he created a mature creation, (with the appearance of age)

such as the chicken, not the egg

or a man and not a baby...

i believe the same is true for the entire earth... if the earth is only a couple 1000 of years old then some of the stars we see wouldn't be visible since it takes the light so long to reach our eyes...

so i belive the earth was created with the appearance that it was EXTREMELY old

I do the right thing because it's based on my culture/traditions/personal morals.
where do those come from?

furthermore... what is the right thing? what is the difference between right and wrong without a differenciating higher power?

Oh and I agree with MTX. I do the right thing because thats what I expect from others (even if I dont see it). I was brought up a certain way, with a set of morals that I believe are pretty solid. I am living a good, healthy lifestyle, and being kind to others as much as possible. I do not need the fear of guilt and hell from Catholicism to tell me not to do things. Too many people around my hometown who come from catholic/private schools are psycho or complete scum. Not saying theres the select few good ones. But it is really a shame how Religion is such a great idea in theory but is practiced so wrongly.

whether or not he said that is arguable.... depends on if you believe if Islam is valid.
I personally don't because of what is in Galatians 1:

Islam = fail
What I am referring to is in Dueteronomy.

I am trying to read the Bible. Genesis was okay. The rest of the books so far have been boing. They repeat over and over.

#1 i'm not talking about catholosism or any religion, i'm talking about morals...

what is the point of them? it's ironic that the majority of religions are at least based from ancient times with claims of supernatureal beings... so its easy to sit hear today and say "its not real they made it up" but it was MUCH harder for people to deny in those times, when heresy was burned and there was a pursuit of absolute truth, instead of todays pursuit of absolute ignorance

"IN BIBLE TIMES, you never hear of anyone rejecting the bible all the way up to when the church became so powerfull opposing it ment death... but the church wouldn't have even come CLOSE to obtaining that kind of power unless the people had a strong belief in it... it would just be another "Temple of vampires"

yes, because if we don't believe in the same thing u do we're all bad people //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
nope... we all have good in us same as bad. i used to be just like you. i'd get chills up my spine when i bashed religion. tell you the truth i can't stand christians. their closed-minded and ignorant. i just want you to believe that your not alone and that doing good for others will reap benefits for times to come

again that thinking says "if i believe it's right to murder babies" then it is...

there must be a higher power or morals wouldn't exist

just a qucik thought. people don't follow rules because they are based on higher being. this country was founded by evangelical cristians with christian beliefs. people follow the rules because of societal sanctions. do you really think that if there were no lwas people would still live in relative peace?? but of course if the laws were there and noone was punished for breaking the laws people still wouldn't follow the laws. societal sanctions right there.

oh and just me i'm also atheitst, and being as how we are all organisms when we dies that's it. no more no less. we won't even know we're dead because all brain function will stop.

And I'm not talking about how religion was made up. I do believe some of the events of the past were obviously true and written down, and passed down through the ages. I used Catholicism as an example. Being Italian, I am surrounded by a lot of hardcore Italian Catholic families. They are just some of the most hypocritical people in my mind when it comes to morals and religion. Blows my mind that they consider themselves to be religious.

If you want religion that can do no wrong, and has their things straight, look to Buddhism. Hah whens the last time you heard of a war in the name of Buddha? I didnt say ANY of what I said pertains to your argument in particular. I'm just going off on what I think personally about religion, morals, and creation.

I am agnostic....for the record.

I try to explore all the religions. Of course many say..."If you don't chose mine, you'll go to hell forever". I hate that about religion...you are not afforded the opportunity to seek knoweldge without such dire consequences. I would hate to be at the Pearly Gates and Peter say, "Well Josh, you have been a devout servant of God for 80 years, spread the good word, etc, etc. But I am sorry to tell you that you are going to Hell because when you where 21, you considered atheism, and when you where 23, you examined other religions. Sorry, but rules are rules."

If I could talk to God, that is one thing I would ask him. Why grant me free will and a thirst for knowledge if I am not allowed to use it. Does not he say to let your talents shine?
