IMHO GOD > Evolution

It's obvious that religion is just an escape for when life becomes too tough for certain people. That's why it'll probably be around as long as human kind is despite how much proof and evidence is pooled against it.
Keeping in mind, I'm agnostic and believe in some sort of special creation, but I'm not asinine enough to really think that a bunch of people magically came up with the correct religion over 2 thousand years ago.

With that being said, I'm done here.
i agree 100% with you. Organized religion is BS.

im out for now too. this discussion is unsolvable.

funny how many of these religious freaks are coming out of prison..... i just think this is part of his probation.... once probation is up he's off to see the urban folk dancers and get him some Wee Willy Winkin...... no more hallelujah and it's back to jackin little kids for their lunch money......

Good read imo

all of my religious ideas are mainly influenced by the movie dogma and my own ideas.

1. i dont go to church mainly because the people i know who go to church are hypocrits.

2. i do not have beliefs i have ideas that can easily change if given enough evidence.

3. i think people and animals are equal. i dont see us as being anymore important than they are. they were here before us so why should be be anymore special.

4. I think god is a woman.

5. i think there is such thing as a soul simply because of ghosts.

6. i dont think that a person has to believe in a higher power to kick an addiction.

7. and finally i dont see why god gets credit for everything.

Actually I grew up far from church/religion. I was all doped up as a kid in a skrewed up household...was looking at time in CYA and God started to work on me while I was in lockdown, started to read and pray and God sent people to lead me and guide me. Here I am 2 years later holding strong and going higher in Him. Have got off probation, drugs, riotous living, graduated hs, and am now in college. before I knew who God was i hated God or anything to do with holiness...I don't just believe in anything, truly God has shown His power in my life and has delivered me...Don't no one know like I know what God has done for me...
Okay so religious person told you in a time of need then. That's literally exactly one of the possibilities he listed.

I love how people find god in periods of insane desperation then ignore the fact that they were insanely desperate afterwards because the support structure got them through hardships.

But honestly if buying into it keeps a needle out of your arm then great, I'm glad you found a way to keep your life from falling apart. But don't go running around preaching to people just because you can't keep the ****ing drugs out of your veins without a magical man in the sky wagging his finger disapprovingly when you think about it.

No preachers or most preachers are not on a power trip and they definitely DO NOT treat their congregation as animals.

God refers to the congregation of men as sheep/flock.
Why refer to people as animals? It's rather demeaning and dehumanizing, isn't it? Or is this the pastors goal to maintain a position a power?

We have to be told what's right, shown the right way, we have to be guided into holiness...If I was my own pastor I would slowly but surely fade off into the things of this world. A pastor is supposed to help lead you and guide you in the right direction, he's supposed to preach the word even if it hurts. He's to cut you with the word and then build you back up. "same holy knowledge as a preacher"
I can agree that many in this world do have to be shown what's right by other people. But what people are there to show a pastor what is right? And why would you "fade into the things of this world" if you were your own pastor? You are obviously very knowledgeable and passionate when it comes to your beliefs, so why keep selling yourself short like this? Have you no faith in yourself, as well?

I will never know as much as my pastor being that he is on a different level than I am with God, pastors or pastors sent from God are after His own heart.
Why won't you ever know as much as your pastor and why is he on a different level with your god? He is just a human after all. The same and you or I. Because he chooses to stand in front of a theistic congregation and share his own opinions and interpretations of the bible does not make him a wiser and better man than you or I. Besides, who's to say his opinions and interpretations are in alignment with the intended meaning of the scripture when it was written? Is it not fair to yourself to follow your own opinions and interpretations and live your life as you see good and kind and fit?

Pastors have a whole different relationship with the Lord than we do.
Why is that? Again, a pastor is just a human, the same as you or I.

God will speak to pastors in a whole different way than He does to the rest of the congregation.
For a god to speak to and command a pastor (or any human, for that matter) would do two things: make him/her a prophet and obstruct free will. Question if this is really the case with such a recognized divinely commanded seer.

I expect no returned response to this, for I regress. Respond back only to yourself, and take your words to mind and heart. But in doing so, promise yourself that you will always place faith in yourself thus never to sell yourself short.

I know pimps who do this very same thing to prostitutes to keep them in line.

ALL christians think they believe in Jesus and the Holy Spirit and whatnot. But they're too ignorant to understand that what they think is true was simply put together by Constantine and edited by King James.

yea, yea, yea...this should have been my 666th post...whatever

I hear King James had sick photoshop skills.

This is extreme but for the bolded part, tell that to the people that died or were killed by people practicing their religion. Sure the religious killer may just cease to exist after death, but the impact being on those that are still living. So its not no harm no foul all the time.
Currently I choose...I'm not sure if there is a God or not, I'm not about to pray to a certain God because thats how I was raised or taught, and definately not out of fear that I will burn in imaginary hell because imaginary God doesn't like me.

I choose not to seek out faith, maybe thats bad, maybe it isn't. If faith finds me great, until then my beliefs are I need to live my life as a decent human being. I don't need to spend every Sunday in church making assumptions and believing in something I'm unsure of. Instead I should be out in the world trying to make things better for other people and making myself a better person.

If I burn in hell for an eternity for living a good and moral life, then I don't like your God anyhow and wouldn't praise him in the first place.
so basically you have a guy behind you with an ax saying if you believe there is a god then he's gunna cut your head off?

here is a lesson you should learn from your own words... those people were so convinced in god that they were willing to give up their lives to not give up their faith...

yet you have nothing to lose, and everything to gain and still won't believe... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Who cares? If I accidentally mixed that shit up it doesn't make me a god. I just got lucky, or unlucky, depends on how you look at it. I didn't say the creator lived, everything just started over.
that wasn't the point of my question, i don't care who mixed it either, but someone had to, it didn't mix itself for no reason, ergo, GOD
