IMHO GOD > Evolution

I was raised in church and from what everyone says it is a real good church; however, over the past 3 or 4 years I have been questioning if there really is a god. I am one of those type of people that if I find something I must know how it works. I will take shit apart just to figure out what makes it tick. I looked back at how I spent time in church and I can not remember much about what was said in the message, because after something was said I was trying to make sense of it and I could never understand how people could believe all the stuff that is in the bible.

I mean I just can't see how religions work. There are so many religions and everyone is telling me that this one is better than that one and you will go to hell if you listen to these people and all the he say she say shit continues.

I believe that we make our own heaven and our own hell. It's all in the brain. As well as the healing powers of "God". There are parts of the brain that is not used and I believe that maybe somehow we are able to tap into that part of the brain and heal ourselves.

I also believe religion was created in order to keep peace, and set basic laws like thou shalt not kill and what not. I mean I just fail to understand how people can believe in something that they can not see.

I am happy for the people that believe in God, and admire that their belief in something that they are unable to see or touch is soo strong. I hope maybe one day I will be able to see what these strong believers see so that I may have something to believe in, but to me life after death is just a bunch of nonsense. My body is going into the ground when I die, and my "spirit" will be no more. Nothing else

Okay so what makes a preacher. Well one that loves God and by loving God you keep His word. You preach the word as it is soo bluntly put in the bible, you love your flock, you keep them in order, and you serve the people/God with all your heart
Flock? Keep order?

Hmmm, so a preacher is on nothing more than a power trip and are to treat people like animals because those people are not worthy of the same holy knowledge as a preacher possesses? Why, with a faith in divinity, can't people keep themselves in order?

No preachers or most preachers are not on a power trip and they definitely DO NOT treat their congregation as animals. God refers to the congregation of men as sheep/flock. We have to be told what's right, shown the right way, we have to be guided into holiness...If I was my own pastor I would slowly but surely fade off into the things of this world. A pastor is supposed to help lead you and guide you in the right direction, he's supposed to preach the word even if it hurts. He's to cut you with the word and then build you back up. "same holy knowledge as a preacher" I will never know as much as my pastor being that he is on a different level than I am with God, pastors or pastors sent from God are after His own heart. Pastors have a whole different relationship with the Lord than we do. God will speak to pastors in a whole different way than He does to the rest of the congregation.

people believe because its something they can attribute everything to and use to create reasons for things they cannot explain.

i best not see another bible quote in here too because i think we all have it figured out that theres always quote in the bible for every thing that happens.

Romans 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged

Once again, how do you know christianity is "the true religion" and that everything in the bible is authentic despite it being hundreds of years old and it being translated throughout history several times?

Thank you for proving my point even better. The bible is your escape when you have no answers. Is the bible 100% perfect and real? You may think so. I, however, do not.

I'll take a wild guess and say;

A. family thing

B. religious person told him so in a time of need

C. needed an easy out

yes the bible is the infallible word of God, divninely inspired by Him, 100% true and pure...yes the word is my escape from the lies of man, you are 100% correct in your statement

Actually I grew up far from church/religion. I was all doped up as a kid in a skrewed up household...was looking at time in CYA and God started to work on me while I was in lockdown, started to read and pray and God sent people to lead me and guide me. Here I am 2 years later holding strong and going higher in Him. Have got off probation, drugs, riotous living, graduated hs, and am now in college. before I knew who God was i hated God or anything to do with holiness...I don't just believe in anything, truly God has shown His power in my life and has delivered me...Don't no one know like I know what God has done for me...

That was a question, not a statement. I knew you would say that too, and how do you know that it is the infallible word of god? Do you know what the actual process was to put the book s of the bible together?
