Actually I was wrong...the wire itself is actually the part that is all black and only a little tip end of the coating is melted.
i wonder if you had the wire fully inserted into the terminal....seems like a lot of heat buildup on the end off that wire. I've personally never seen that happen before but i've heard of itNot from what I saw but I never really looked at it good.
I didn't read too much of the thread other than OP and the picture of the wire, seems like the wire might have fell out and was bouncing against the terminal getting poor contact hence the heat build up. It doesn't hurt to wire it properly and try again. Also, I don't believe that wiring the negative and positive backwards would blow the sub... it would just cause a polarity issue (meaning the sub would pull inward when the bass hit instead of pushing outwards and vice versa).Dumb question.... if I mixed up the pos and neg wires at the terminal cup on accident would the sub still work? If so could it blow the sub and make the wire heat up and turn black like it did?
