i recently bought a refurbished 08 zx1500.1 , I decided to upgrade from a 08 zx1000.1

for some reason when i turn on the car the amp takes a while [ 30-80 seconds] before the bass kicks in, i am running this amp at 1200 rms [vdimm gain set] .

on the website for kicker i read this........ " Soft-start” circuitry lessens initial shock load when powering up, and a muting circuit cancels audio noise that surges down the line.

my 1000.1 never did that, it starts up as soon as the radio plays .

is this common for the zx1500.1? do i need to return this amp?

If its take 30-80 seconds something is defiantly wrong. I doubt a company like kicker would think 30-80 seconds for their amps to turn on is satisfactory. I'd say get a new one if you can.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

If that amp is taking that long then something can't be right. Out of all the amp's I've owned none of mine take any more then 2-3 seconds. I would take a DMM to it and just check all the voltages and see what the amp does exactly when it's powering up. If nothing stick's out call the place you purchased from and tell them what's it's doing and try to get it exchanged.
