Hey everyone,

I have a 2003 Dodge Dakota Reg. Cab truck. I would like a new system in it. All I have is the factory crap.

Where is the best place to buy? Install?

Would it be a good idea to install myself? What would I need?

I really don't know that much about all of this. But this is the cd player I am interested in...

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5512544

I have no idea if I need certain speakers to work with that or if I can buy any speakers. I'm lost...

I will probably be buying a few things at a time, not all at once. Is that ok to do? What about price? Is $400 to $500 too little?

link doesnt work, but I wouldn't recommend getting your car audio from Walmart anyway. IF you can do it, self install is great. saves money. IF you want to do a self install on the radio, you need an aftermarket wiring harness for your vehicle. That will plug into your cars factory wiring harness, then to wire up the radio, just go color to color on the wires.

As for speakers, you need to find out what size the existing speakers are, and let us know, people on here are very helpful. and will help you get better ones than stock.

NOW, since you have a regular cab truck, its going to be kind of tight to try to put in sub/amp combo. but probablly is doable. As far as your budged, you should be able to do a single sub with amp for that much. But since you also want a new HU and new speakers, you might want to bump it up a bit.

If you're going to do a bit at a time. best to do this way...HU(radio/cd player) first, then new speakers, then amp/sub combo...

I'll let others give you some ideas ...btw...welcome!

Hi everybody, I'm currently searching for a sound system and i found a company named cdt audio. Their website is http://www.cdtaudio.com. I went on that website and tried to find valuable informations but I didn't barely find some important that could guide me on if their products are weather good or not, affordable or expensensive.

I'm new on the world of the audio and I don't know really what to do lol. A bit of help would be appreciated.

Sincerly,

Link works for me...well anyhow its a black pioneer cd player that is ipod adapter capable.

I dont have an ipod but plan on getting one.. now if i hook up the ipod the music would come out of the truck speakers right?

BestBuy and CircuitCity have the same one available.

Its Pioneer model number DEH-P2900MP

are u not looking to spend a lot on a hu?
Not really. I mean about $120 is the highest I'd be willing to go for one and I like Pioneer. My buddy spent over $300 on one and I think thats crazy...I forgot teh brand but I think it began with a B.

I just want a decent upgrade over what I have now.

Would a sub even fit in my truck? Maybe behind the passenger seat? My truck has 2 seperate seats with a little storage thing in the middle...like a car.

What other places are there to go to? Is there any place online I can just browse at?

Install Doctor has some good information on it. Most of their vehicle specific stuff is for older models but it's still a good resource for information.

On a newer Dakota, your best resource is a dodge trucks forum as far as removing panels and such.

Crutchfield is a good spot to browse for head units and speakers. I purchased a head unit from them several years back and they included vehicle specific instructions for removing panels and such to replace the head unit and speakers in my truck. They also included the mounting adapters, harness and antenna adapter. Sounddomain is also a good spot to check out.

For a simple upgrade, a new head unit is good for a start. Next, look at some new front speakers and an amplifier for them. In a regular cab, rear speakers are actually kind of pointless. Use the money you would have spent on rear speakers on the fronts speakers and amp. Looking at subs, there are a number of small box and shallow mount subwoofers being made these days so I expect you should be able to get some bass in there.
