alright, i've been on these boards reading posts for the last month or so and you guys have already helped me a ton whether you realized it or not. but, i decided its time for me to ask a few of my own questions.

i drive a 98 honda civic coupe (17" konigs, 2" eibach's, etc.. [its my baby //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif]) with a stock altenator. my first car stereo system is sort of being spread out over the summer as i get the money i need. so, as of right now, i have an Alpine CDA-7998 installed... and that's it lol. but i've got an alpine mrv-t420 (2x110w at 4ohms) on the way. i'm still in the dark as to whether or not i'll need to change out my altenator, even after reading several threads on this topic. i hear honda stock altenators are weak, but are they too weak to power 220w rms? after i buy my comps. i'll be putting in a 12 in. sub and amp in the trunk, but i figure that will only be another 300w rms more. will i definately need to get a new altenator once i get to that point? any help would be great, i'm lost with this electrical system stuff. and you might be thinking i payed way to much for a HU to be this new to car audio. you're probably right too... i just have this problem with buying something if i know i could do a little better. so i spent like 600 bucks and had to set and look at a cool screen for about a month due to it's lack of an int. amp. but, all that said, i'd say it was still worth it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

You will be fine with the first amp. Probably with both amps. That's not very much current draw. THe amps aren't putting out that much power constantly only in peaks. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thank you very much. that's really good to hear //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif those little crutchfield pamphlets they send out talk like you need a new altenator if you use the cigarette lighter too often. thanks again!

the amp i'll be using is a class D...

i think i'll just get it all set up, and see what happens. if i have any problems then i'll look into getting it rewound. thank you so much for your help guys! this place is the best //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well, i didn't buy anything at all until i'd been reading on here for about a month (not because i'm that patient, but because of a lack of funds //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif), so all of you on here have helped a ton. i think it'll turn out real nice as long as the money doesn't dry up to quick. it'll be a good start anyway... and next summer i'll get what i can't afford now (couple of e12a's? who knows... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ) peace
