I've just started out making money that I can spend on stuff I wanted, and a car audio system has been at the top of my list for a while. I went to a stereo place down here in my city and asked for help that I wanted some speakers with decent bass and clear quality and the dude sold me some speakers, 1 pair of 6x8 jvc coaxial speakers, they have a RMS of 30watt and like 250watt max. They sounded alright but I felt my stock speakers hit harder. So I went and tried to explain myself farther, he sold me a pair of rockford fosgates p1572, 5x7, that have a RMS of 60watt and like 150* watt max. Went.I put them in and started listening, they had next to no bass kick to them, so whe I listen to country I'm content but when I listen to rap I feel like my system is lacking. Some extra information, I have my stock radio in, someone jacked my aftermarket one so I have to buy another (this was before I got new.speakers) also I don't understand the amps and stuff... my buddy gave me 2 12in Sony xplod subs but I dont have a amp for it. Someone please help

You have to prep and deaden the doors to get good mid bass out of them. There was a thread that showed the proper way to do it by @keep_hope_alive ; . Maybe someone can post it here for OP? As far as the subs they're junk. What your budget for subs and amp? What kinda car? What kind of sound are you looking for, just lots of loud bass or more sound quality oriented?

My budget is lowrange I'm just going one step at a time with all this stuff. I really would like something that has heavy bass but also has a good clean quality sound, considering I listen to almost every type of music. But to be honest I don't mind spending extra as long as the extra sounds really good. Its on a old 1998 ford contour se that I got for free an had the ****** replaced on it, more of a project car that I finished having work done to it, which is why I'm looking into sound options

I'd recommend SoundQubed subs for low budget. HDS200 line starts at $79 for a 10" or HDS300 line starts at $129 for a 10"

Amps-- Hifonics Brutus line or PPI Black Ice line.

there are several useful threads here:

Sound Deadening

there are plenty of good budget options. I disagree with most of the options you've been given so far - but that's what happens when you ask random people on the internet. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I would go for JBL for budget systems and Alpine for head units. But check what is locally sold and supported. I recommend buying local to have an accessible place for help and warranty claims.

JBL subs are not worth the time, but JBL door speakers are ok. With the money you would spend buying new speakers for your ride you will end up paying 500-700$ (small budget system) with it sounding semi good.

Were not all rich we start from nothing and get to something so just like some buy from the thrift store how about researching and looking thru the forums classifieds forums for speakers. You can keep the same budget i mentioned with much better made speakers and hardware.

The few things you will run into which are the most expensive are premium wires, High quality amps, sub boxes (if made by someone else and not yourself or else could be a 20$ project)

Alpine Type-R is also fine for a budget system. JBL subs are fine for the price range and JBL is a top speaker manufacturer for pro audio gear - they know how to build subs and speakers and have been doing it longer than most members have been alive (since the 50's with the owner starting building audio in the 1920's). My favorite budget sub is the Ultra A-12 for $100.

All of the amps i've ran over the years are either used or demo, i've never paid full price for an amp, and i've owned over 50 amps in the past 20 years, all sold working (currently selling 10 amps). i spend more money in amps than any other component. you do get what you pay for, and amps that sold new for cheap are poorly made and problematic/noisy.
