I'm Horny Again!

Ah I tried mounting mine like that, it's a pain! When we were doing my boys, I came up with a good solution. What we did was cut out a piece of wood (like 2.5" wide) and secured that to the bottom of the dash, then secured the horn to the piece of wood. Then you can mount the horn much easier and place it where you want easier.

y couldnt i put them as far back on the top of the dash , so it kinda looks like a A/C vent
they are terrible On-axis. these arent your ordinary speakers. Horns rely on dispersion, when they are under your dash your dash becomes an extension of the speaker, and the sound goes up and then forward towards you.

on axis your ears would go nuts, my ears were ringing for a good minute after i tested them yesterday on the dash.

so how would it be different if i pointed them up and they use the windshild as tre extension. i know they are loud but i can lower the wattage on them .

even worse. these really need to be parallel with the floor. there is a cross action going on the at a certain angle.

Watch the video I posted on the 4th pg of this thread. its the ID tech he talks about a few things over horns, real educated information in that video.

they arent that bad LOL. just depends to what degree you take them too. as far as horns in the dash one of the guys i used to compete against did that (he had a red camaro was totally awesome to look at red on red orion gear) and his stage was so crooked and the horns were SO F'N bright my guess was he had to stick something in the throat the muffle it (cant remember if they were usd or id) cosmetically the system was tight performance, time and money to put the horns up there was BY far not worth it. you might think a horn images low because people set their seats wrong and think you need to lay down to hear them LOL (this tells you how much they know about horns too) if you sit upright OVER the top of them head over the steering wheel they will not sound like they are where they are actually . infact i would go as far to say you would think they were in you windshield.

thats what my fear is how do you tune them . ? from amps and EQ i belive or is their more. Xovers

its not that bad.

your biggest thing is that you should have if possible a 24db\oct active crossover because its best to play with your xover point. but its not NECESSARY. i was using 12db\oct slopes for a while with my CD2 fullbodies, but i could not put them as low as i wanted.

if you can get a 8~10 band or more, or a graphic eq with 10+ bands, you should be good. but EQ is not NECESSARY.

most people are just scurrd.

chad has got me fascinated with that behringer dcx. im lookin into it. i need to pm joetama though about it to see what he says

Cheap... That pretty much sums up the entire Behringer line.

To be 100% honest if you are going to use that in a car it probably won't last very long. Plus by the time you modify the power supply and work out the kinks and pay for the unit you probably could buy a decent audio control or something that actually had decent sounding pre-amplifiers.

That guy that compares the unit to an Alpine H701 has obviously never listened to Behringer products very closely. Or he doesn't have a very good ear.

My opinion of them is even in a car they are going to be your weakest link.

Finished the RCAs today. 13'. Its funny how a whole 100' of spool almost is disappeared now. I used 78' of wire out of my spool.Used a lot of terminals too...half of those are gone now, i made some cables for some other guy too. I ran out of black heatshrink so i had to cut into my red stash
