correctedbut image dynamics, JBL, illusion audio, and altec lansing are some of the major producers of horns that i personall know of off the top of my head.
got any more squeak or dave?
Altec Lansing makes compression drivers that would work, but not horn bodies for car audio. Same with JBL.

Illusion Audio, Image Dynamics, USD Audio all presently make car audio horns (well, technically Illusion currently does not, but within the next few months they should be on the shelves again) . Crystal and Veritas used to, and you can find them used. Illusion and Veritas are the only ones with metal horn bodies; ID, USD and Crystal all use[d] fiberglass bodies.

correction, polyeurathane or ABS plastic.

i have never seen a fiberglass hornbody. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

and thanks for the correction about jbl and altec. they dont make the horn itself, but they make the 'motor'. you can buy the hornbodies right from ID - brand new for under $100

you can get compression drivers for not too expensive to be honest;

yeah but what compression driver would you match up with it to make it cost effective vs. buying them on ebay?

You really can't beat buying used. My Illusions use Radian 450PB compression drivers, which go for $130+shipping each brand new from PE (so, $260+shipping for the pair). And that's only the drivers...you'd still need to spend $50-$100 on a pair of horn bodies from someone. So, you'd have ~$360+shipping wrapped up in them......and I just sold a pair of my essentially brand new Illusion CH1's for $225 shipped.

audiobahn actually made a set. won a top 3 at sbn sometime ago if not a win. horns dont distort and image well thats their advantage over regular speakers. its like having nearly unlimited volume from 700-800 hz on up.

Yeah...but, from what I've heard, they used photocopies of the ID horns (right down to the trademark symbol).

Cmusic and mic10is in that thread are Chuck Music and Mic Wallace; two pretty big names in car audio SQ competitions (you probably knew who they were audiolife, but it was an FYI for those not so "in the know" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif).

the ones the sold up here at the distributor looked different than an id horn they had guides in the body. the driver in them was about on par with a cd-1pro iirc.first generations might have been clones the car that was running them had a sheet in it to cover everything up.
