in my family (stepdad, mom, 3little sisters 13,10,4) my step dad makes about $20/hr but works hella overtime and just uses the overtime check for his 72 silverado build up, and the base check (everything b4 overtime) goes in to bills, savings etc, etc.......as for me i pay for ALL my stuff (im 18) and just spend the overtime money of my car/gf/entertainment and stuff....

um ...my wife actually suggested that i get a checking account and throw money in there 2 hook my ride up.....i'm going to take that idea.......and as far as layaway..i ment using layaway 4 the car audio not my kid

I am 32 with wife kid and mortgage. besides weather limitations I spend about 2 days a month on actuall install fab and whatnot. More than that my wife will complain.. I have so many projects on hold and started i think they could be a full time job for a few months.. install for me could take up to a year and more nickle and diming them to death.. hence I have never had pics put up here as completions... it is definately a hard hobby to have with a family but I love it too much to just give up.. And the little things on the side help out with my spending too. Be patient for one and try to come up with a compromise.. See if she will go for one or two days a month for your install needs.. if its only one take what you can get. if she will go for two try to take a them together. Compromise is the key... I did have to spend a few nights in the dog house to get what I have now but it was worth it if only for a day or two.

u could always just buy it. but save ur money, thats what i am doing i want to get another sub and amp but i decided after 2 years of saving not but $300 for my college i decided to start throwin most of my money to that account. but req i do hear the girl *****ing out buying stuff my ex was always *****ing bout that but she would buy shit too hell she just bought $2400 worth of bedroom furniture for a college appartment, and i also hear bought them side jobs thats how i paid for my new sub and amp recently from sidejobs and bonus comming in

well between me and my girlfriend we bring home about $3500 a month, we have 2 kids, so with me being the majority holder of the take home money, i buy whatever i decide to buy as long as it doesn't interfere with our budget.

Yes that's my truck. If I where to break what I spend in a year down to a monthy cost, it'd come out to around $10.00. That's basicly for install items/parts. I'll sell something that I want to upgrade/replace and use that $$ for the new item.

you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to customize your car. you also don't have to have the fastest, loudest, best sounding car on the road either.

i think a compramise(sp) has to be made. family does come first, and sometimes that sucks, but thats what being responsible is all about. on the other hand, it's hard to do the right thing, take care of a family, household, be a good father/husband without an outlet. i would go crazy if i didn't have a hobby, and it would probably make me a less than ideal husband/father. i think this is something that should be discussed with your wife, but you can't just whine about it. if you don't have the time or money, it just needs to be put on the back burner.

as much fun as it would be haveiung a field day with a shovel....best bet it to wait andnot pissoff the wife,,,,, But explain to here that when the baby is in there car the remote for thesub amp is going off...dont sacrifice the WHOLE stereo fro the kids.....kids DO come first, but u shouldnt eliminate ur hobby in the end...but hey thats just me.......
